an appointment
1. Find the area of interest or concern
Select your area(s) of interest from the summaries on the 'Therapy Services'
page. Click the 'more' button for further information on any of the 16 subjects.
You may also wish to consider the publications we can send you; these are written
by experts, easy to read and complement our Therapy courses. To see a review
of each, click 'Book Shop'.
2. View Psychologists
After reading about the subject, you may wish to discuss your concerns.
On each subject page is a link, 'Select Therapist', which takes you to a list
of our Psychologists and Psychotherapists, who have all specialised in the particular
subject for many years.
3. Choose someone to
contact
By reading the introductions against each name you may select who you would
like to consult. (You may also view Psychologists who speak alternative languages,
by selecting your desired language from the language drop down menu)
4. Select an appointment
time
By clicking a chosen person's 'view diary' button, you will come to their diary,
showing the appointment times they have available during the next eight weeks.
The diary displays the coming week, then subsequent weeks, a week at a time.
To view future weeks, select an alternative date range from the drop down menu.
If there aren't any times to suit you, click 'back', choose a different Psychologist,
and see their diary.
5. Book your therapy
session
To book your chosen appointment, go to the relevant diary entry and select the
desired duration.
(You can book 15 minute, 35 minute or 55 minute sessions).
Once you have selected the length of your session, click on the 'Book' button
on the right hand side of the relevant diary entry.
6. Review and confirm
the booking
Clicking the 'Submit' button will take you to the 'Statement' page, which displays
the sessions you have booked and the total amount due, including any publications
you may have chosen.
You may make another appointment, or make changes and then click 'Place your
order'. This will take you to the Transaction page where you can pay by Credit
card.
7. Transaction Page
You must log in to use the Transaction page.
· If you are an existing PsychologyOnline client, you will need to enter
your user name and password.
· If this is the first time you have visited us, you will need to enter
your e-mail address and create a password.
Upon completing this, we then ask you to submit some basic details (which are
Confidential, as is everything you tell us).
You then need to enter you credit card details for payment and click the 'submit
order' button. Credit card payments are encrypted and include 128 Bit SSL protection,
the information is processed via a secure server and details are not held.
8. Confirmation of order
The Order Confirmation page appears, showing your order number and details and
confirming your security codes.
You will also receive confirmation
of your appointment by e-mail, and any publications chosen will be posted (under
plain cover) within three days.
You can now return to the
beginning of the site.
Attending
an appointment
1. Log on
Go to the PsychologyOnline Home page and click on the 'Login' button.
The Iogin panel will open. Enter your e-mail address and password in the relevant
boxes and click 'submit'.
Once you are successfully
logged in, the site will display your name and the Appointment details at the
top of the screen.
2. Attend your appointment
Click on the link to view your Appointment Card. You will then be able to view
all the appointments that you have booked.
At the correct time you
will be able to attend an appointment by clicking the 'Attend' button next to
the relevant appointment. Your session room for that appointment will then open
in a new window. (You can enter the session room at any time, but it wiIl be
empty until vour appointment is due to start).
3. Your session
Your Psychologist will meet you in the session room when your appointment is
due to start. The first person there should type a message in the box at the
bottom of the session room window, e.g. "Hello, I'm here!" The second
person responds on arrival and the session is underway.
Your Psychologist will
not see what you are typing untiI you click on the 'OK' button at the right
hand side of the box.
In the top right hand corner
of the session room is a clock that counts down the time of the session. Your
Psychologist should also warn you when your session is coming to an end.
4. Ending the session
To end the session simply close the session room window by clicking on the 'X'
box in the top right hand corner of the Window.
(Please note that your
Psychologist wiIl not know that you have left the chat room unless you say you
are leaving)
5. After the session
If you would like a transcript of the session, click the 'print transcript'
words under the dialog window. You need not do this immediately but it will
be permanently deleted, either by your Psychologist or automatically after 24
hours - whichever is the sooner.
When data from sessions is removed there is no way of retrieving it, this is
part of PsychologyOnline's Security and Privacy Policy. It is your responsibility
to store anything you may wish to view later.
Please note: Our service is not suitable for people
with a history of mental illness, which requires the continuation of existing
professional relationships.
